I really like the Beatles a lot...and I'm a new RA this fall.
I was wondering if it would be a good or bad idea to have the Beatles as a theme for the hallway.

I'm afraid that The Beatles it too specific, and that not everyone will like them.  Should I be more broad like "Rock and Roll music" or decades like the 50s or 60s?

Yeah, but even that is specific. Not everybody wants to live in the 60's, nor love the music.

You should get everyone to personalise a section of the wall, make it a communal thing. That way it is fair and equal.

I don't really like the Beatles. So maybe a decade.

You should split the wall into one section each dorm, and have them be able to decorate however they want.

I can allow residents to decorate LATER after they come to school.

But the FIRST decoration is done before they get there...

And also, the RAs are pretty much responsible for the decorating. I can't completely rely on residents to do it (most will promise but never fulfill it).  A lot will not care

Get together with your fellow RA's, and then discuss it, there. From there, bring your hall/floor/area together, and see their opinion. I mean, after all, it's not just your hall. ;) While they're not responsible for it, they have to live in it. And if they don't like it, they're going to show for it.

Sounds like you've already made up your mind - given up before you've started.

New RA's take time getting used to the whole 'Have Patience' factor. ;)

I think the Beatles sounds like a great theme! I do not know a lot about their songs, but you could make door nametags in the shape of yellow submarines and cool stuff from their songs! There are so many songs and The Beatles really is such a huge theme that there is plenty you could do for it!
