So first of all fuck off if you are going to tell me that what these people think isnt worth caring about, because Im not looking at this like that. I know theyre worthless, but still this bothers me, and not b/c of them in particular. Right, so at the moment I live in the Republic of Ireland. I have been for quite a while, but Im origionally English and have what i consider an English accent and everyone in Ireland would agree. But over the last 3 years or so, when Ive come to England people point out to me that there is quite a strong Irish tint to my accent now, although it starts wearing out the longer I spend in England.
But yesterday (Im in England now), myself and a couple of cousins went out to a pub for a bit of a meal. Anyways this couple in their mid thirties sit down behind us and order their starter. We're currnetly eating ours and the couple start talking in their "core blimey" accents, which is the local one. I think nothing more of them until about 10 mins later I turn around and theyre gone, they only had a starter.
Simon, my cousin, who is very sharp and notices things tells me quietly "Did you notice that couple behind us? They shut up once you started talking and left very quickly." He told me it was because of my accent.
This is all very annoying to me now that Ive suddenly got an I rish accent, that isnt a fucking Irish accent. I want my nice fucking English accent back, and Id have to spend a couple of months back in London to get it back as strong as it was so I wouldnt have to put up with snobby nosed English people not liking my tainted accent.
It actually really pisses me off. I want to keep my mouth shut now for the rest of the time Im here.
