Having an abortion is not murder, furthermore it is the mother's choice, whereas killing a pregnant woman (passed a certain number of weeks) who chose to have the child is arguably double-murder, but I've never heard of it being charged as such in the UK.

There is a huge difference there. With abortion it is a mother's choice whether to remove the fetus or not, but with the double murder scenario, it would most likely be a woman who desired to carry her child to full term.
