In Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night, what do you think is that tall, dark thing on the left?

I always thought it was a mountain that came to a steep pinnacle, but I looked it up and i guess it's supposed to be a cyprus tree.  I don't see it though.

I'd have thought it was either a mountain or a tree, the ends certainly look like leaves or branches of leaves.
