Well, it seems between work, issues at home, and issues with my girlfriend that I've just been under a lot of stress lately.  Unfortunately, this has all bottled up and become a tad bit hard for myself to handle.  Last summer I first ventured into the world of cutting after what was a particularly tough time with a move during the end of my sophomore year of school, a breakup with my girlfriend, and more.  I turned to cutting to cope with the problem, but eventually stopped.  Unfortunately, over the past few months the cutting has started up again, and I'm trying to find ways to avoid this, and have been successful lately.  I fear that the problem may return again however, as I have been having an extreme amount of stress at my job lately, and with arguments with my parents.  On top of that the girl I like and I finally decided to start dating last Monday.  Problem is that she lives in a different town, and I don't yet have my license.  My parents are normally pretty cool with driving me places, but they don't want me really hanging out with her at all because of our age difference.  I'm 17 and she's only 14.  This has caused added stress on myself as I wish my parents would be helping make things simpler on me, instead of causing more problems, especially as they know my past history of depression.

Hobbies are great ways to relieve stress- find something that you like to do and do it whenever you need to relax.

I know, it would really help to have something to take my mind off things, just not sure what exactly.  Also another question on a more serious topic.  I know taking others prescription medication isn't exactly a good thing, but I know a good friend of mine has some anti-depressants that she doesn't use and has offered to me.  Are there any harmful effects that I would encounter upon actually taking these?

It might be better to try a hobby first- best not take chances with a non-prescribed medication.

Hobbies ara great way to take your mind off things, though I belive the problem stems from much deeper within.

It seems like you are not particularly at peace with yourself, that you have all these anxieties and pressure over what you are experiencing. Sometimes, the best way to actually cope with depsression is to be happy with the way you are. To be yourself, and nothing more, nothing less.

Most of the time, I can get out of the well of depression by appreciating myself a little bit more, knowing that I will try to do my best. If things don't work out, so be it, I'll do what I can to fix the mess, but not to worry about it, for I'm doing what I can. Its a simplistic mindset, but really, its that childlike behavior that helps us get rid of the complexities of the world.

The key to victory is the element of surprise.
When that doesn't work, I guess I just gotta gun you down.

Thanks for the help everyone =]
Just had another reallyy terrible setback and disappointing day, but I'm trying to just keep my head up and get through it.  Not going to do anything stupid, and going to maintain a positive outlook if I can.
