I am not catholic I am not anything in particular. But to all you Roman Catholics do you think the priest not being able to have sex or get married is a bit of an ancient rule? I mean it's only natural to want to have sex and want a family it seems like their trying to make something unnatural seem like sinning. What do you think?

I've never gotten that either, I think priests in ANY religion should be able to have a family and a wife. And sex with that wife, frankly.

catholics r the stupidest religion ever!!! and that's coming from a Christan and Catholics r not Christians!!! in my religion priests can get married have kids and have sex with there wife as much as they darn well please

There are no ancient rules. God's law is timeless and for people of all times in history. I understand why they say that, and think it's possible to go without sex. I am pretty sure it's not God's law to not get married. Sex is fine with your spouse.

Catholics could get married and, obviously, have sex with their wives until about the year 1000. There are no theological/biblical reasons a preist can not marry. I believe the offical reason they aren't supposed to marry is that they need to devote their entire time to God and serving their parish, which is somewhat understandable. I've seen it rumoured a few places though the main reason for stopping preists taking wives was simply that the Church couldn't afford to support whole families.
