I have been amazed at some friends who are in youth groups for their religious faith and have all this zeal for their faith but barely understand the beleif system.

It is like they have been inducted into some cult or something.  They can't discuss their faith, don't know why they beleive what they believe, but just answer everything with because my faith says so.

It is like these people are cattle!

erm, my friend loves her youth group because of the social AND religious aspect...

they talk about faith all the time.

my bro is in a group that has weekly discussions,

so i can't really say i've seen anything like what you're describing...

They're not crazy. They're pentecostal. It's pretty common. I used to go to a pentecostal church.

I know a lot of religious people who can't tell me shit out the religion.

The people that you are talking about seem like they need something to believe in. Plus its like a little clique where they feel if they have faith, they will belong.

I went to a Presbyterian youth group for awhile.

We just played games and stuff, and discussed issues that face teens- sex, drugs, dating, etc. The pastor would read a few Bible verses pertaining to what we were discussing. In our discussions, I always took the nontraditional point of view, and usually ended up turning the discussions into debates. And then we debated. No one ever tried to silence my opinions, although they sometimes did not agree. They were patient with me, and accepting, even though they could tell that I didn't really believe in the Bible.

I had a lot of fun with those kids, in all honestly.

But then I stopped going, because I became busier with school, and I felt as though I was only going to church group for the fun things we did, rather than the church aspect. I felt as though I was going for the wrong reasons, especially since I realized that traditional religion wasn't for me.

They begged me to come back, but I just could never bring myself to do it.

They're no different from your average teenager at a rock concert. If teenagers in youth groups are cultists, so are teenagers who go to see Fall Out Boy.

I don't think people who are fans of fall out boys go around telling other people they are going to burn in enternal damnination because they don't listen to fall out boys.

I agree that emo, goth, heavey metal all get kids to dress and "act" alike to a certain degree but I don't think they have a faith that the members of "Radiohead" are going to lead them to a heveanly salvation

Mind if I ask you if you've ever seen the clinical definition of the word "cult?" Because I think you're misunderstanding what a cult actually is.
