I'm taking Physical Anthropology at a community college during the summer to fill out some GE's before I get to the university...and this is my first college class.  It's verrrrry different from high school.  I'm having some problems transitioning.

First of all...my class is THREE HOURS long. How the hell am i supposed to concentrate for THAT long?!  At high school our classes were an hour and a half and I was generally okay with that...but 3 hours?!  Also...I have a big exam tomorrow.  How am I supposed to study for this?

My professor uses powerpoints and he put them all online.  I've looked through them, but I'm not sure how to approach the actual "studying" because I have no idea about the structure of the test.

Well first, why did you sign up for a 3-hour class?? But since ur already in there most likely the test will be multiple choice, and long. I am a visual learner so all i have to do is read over my notes, highlight stuff i think is important, test my self to see if i know & understand, and if not i look it up on the internet for a better explanation than in my notes.. and i basically remember things. It would have been easier if he would have told you which sections would be on the test though for that approach, but it still works. If ur not a visual learner i cant guarantee that you'll get the A though u might need a different approach

You have to figure out what will work for you.  A community college is a good way to adjust into something bigger, and it's definitely more different.  You just have to build up the discipline.

What my sister does is looks up professors on ratemyprofessor.com, so she knows what to expect on the exams and stuff.  You may be able to get an idea of how hard it is, and gauge how much you might want to study.
