I'm thinking of donating my 15.4-inch Gateway and buying a macbook instead as my primary computer.

Question for macbook users: is it portable? Do you mind its weight? Are you able to carry it everywhere?

And is it good enough as a primary computer?

Thanks.

I absolutely love my Macbook. I've always used Windows and the Leopard software is a welcome change. Everything is so easy because most of your programs come pre-installed, unliked a Dell or some other PC where you have to spend hours putting CD-ROMs in and out of your computer. As far as the weight, I actually find it to be much LIGHTER than other laptops. My mom has a Dell laptop that is relatively new and the case alone for her laptop weighs more than my laptop itself.

Yes. No. Yes. It's pretty light really, although I usually don't drag it around with me much.

And is it good enough as a primary computer?

If you aren't a gamer, then absolutley.

If you do get a macbook, be sure to invest in a rubber protective case.  I've heard really bad things about how easily the exterior can be scratched.  There are YouTube reviews on the different types of cases, some cases even scratch what they're meant to protect.

I have a Macbook (a white one).  It's great, at work I'm a Windows User, and for the most part, it was an easy transition.

However, my main computer is still a PC based laptop.  I use a Lenovo T61 with an extended battery.  The weight is similar, but my T61 has far more computing power.

I use them both, though.  I use the mac for games and browsing the internet.  I use my PC for work, email, internet, and chat.

You'll definately enjoy the Macbook.  And it's cute.  The only thing I do not like about it is the screen is shiny and not matte.  Only the Macbook Pro's come in matte.  So using it outside is going to be a PITA (even matte screens suck outside)

I've got spurs that jingle jangle jingle.
As I go riding merrily along.
And they sing, "Oh, ain't you glad you're single?"
And that song ain't so very far from wrong.
