A father and his 12 year old daughter were walking back from a fireworks show, and two young men jumped out, and slapped the daughter on the butt. The father started yelling at them for what they had done. The two young men called their friends, and later on in the night, a total of six young men ambushed the father, and beat him to the ground.

He is still in the hospital, with internal bleeding. The damage may or may not be permanent.

I actually teared up when I read this, because I pictured my own father acting similarly to this situation, if it would happen. Would my own father be beat to the ground because of it?

Yes, I did notice that. That's probably why they referred to them as thugs, because let's face it, when we think inner-city thugs, we think of young black males.
