I don't necessarily believe in a higher power but if there is one my reasoning would be solely based on the origin of the universe.Anything is possible, but both there being a higher power and the creation of a universe from an infinitely expanding infinitesimal spec of matter are both most improbable however there is really no answer and so I choose the agnostic approach.

If you're just referring to a higher power rather than any religious figure, I think that is a belief that can be founded in reason. It is only reasonable to suppose that there is a reason something exisits instead of nothing. To bring something into existence, something else must have existed previously but since nothing existed, that which allowed existence to happen must be beyond what we understand as existence, I.E. a higher power. You don't have to agree with that; you can state that the fact anything exisits doesn't require an explnation or that something has always existed, but I the first explanation more reasonable and probable.
