What would happen if I app for SL and pass and app for intellectual test and fail?
OR
pass the intellect and fail the SL app?
Can I still become a mod?

You need to be an SL of some sort. Being an intellectual isn't required. Also, most people don't pass their SL application the first time...

You don't automatically have to be an intellectual (I think) but you do have to be a support leader to even apply for a moderator.
