None of the British are complaining, why are you? Britain wasn't really a unified nation, and Rome had a hold on most of it, and was already falling.
It's also quite a stretch of the imagination to imagine the Anglo-Saxons as "Vikings" for that matter as well. While you're right over Jake in that most of the Angles, Jutes, and Saxons originated from modern Schleswig-Holstein and parts of Denmark, they were quite different from the peoples of Denmark and Norway which arrived on the English, Scottish, and Irish shores during the 800s and 900s. While Danelaw did bring about the rise of Wessex over the rest of England and eventual unity of the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms, Danelaw also brought about plenty of bloodshed and destruction. It was a mixed baggage, and I honestly doubt that a united England wouldn't rise eventually. With or without the help of the Vikings (you must realize that their effects had some good, but also a lot of bad), England was one of the strongest and most centralized monarchies of Europe by the time the Normans came during 1066. The foundations of England were laid completely by the Anglo-Saxons. William the Conquerer conquered an already rich and well established kingdom. The Normans did little to create that. If anything, the Normans hindered England from creating the world's largest empire given the fact that England was fixated on the possessions they had on Continental Europe that also came from the Normans until their defeat, and loss of all their possessions but Calais on Continental Europe, by France during the Hundred Years War in 1453.
