Word up, that shit puts a beating on your shins. It'd be my preferred form, but boxing training does me well enough since I don't even get into fights.

Boxing is one of the worst forms of fighting IMO. Its FAR too offensive and has little defense. With Muay Thai your shins and forearms take a beating but your opponent also suffers since they hit solid bone. Your shins are rarely an offensive move, they are mainly used to block and wear your opponent down. However when you land a hit its for good. Few people can take an elbow to the face and remain conscious or at least able to fight.
Boxers have been known to fuck up martial artists. not muay thai, but the real bullshit like TKD. boxers actually have a very solid defense because you can't hit them in the face. The main weakness is legs, which is why a muay thai kickboxer would win. but boxing is still a solid workout and nobody really uses legs effectively in fights anyway where im from. Edit: hold up, misread that a little. an elbow isn't going to get in against a boxer. boxers protect their face at all times, and you have to get in really close to land an elbow. Boxing's form of defense is being able to take a hit, it really only protects 2 areas, your face and your sides. And unless you are fighting another boxer there are many openings for a good strike. True you do have to be close to land an elbow hit, obviously, but that is what your legs are for. You simply wear down your opponent, slow their ability to back away then continuously take quick shots at their face. Even if your elbow doesn't land you will be forcing their fist into their face which is boxing's weakness. And then when they go offensive and throw a punch a good MMA fighter (note we are not talking specifically Muay Thai) can utilize a throw and place the boxer at a huge disadvantage. In all honesty Muay Thai is not the best form of fighting against a boxer. It is better but not nearly the best. Both forms are fairly offensive and not as defensive as say Jujitsu or Krav Maga. In my personal experience a combination of Krav Maga and Muay Thai is probably the best form of fighting.
