Was it spelt the same and everything? you must be joking, there's no embargo on naming your kid Jesus. The names Joshua and Jesus actually originate from the same Jewish name, the only difference being that Jesus is the english translation of the Greek name and Joshua is the english translation of the Jewish name (old testament was written in Hebrew, new testament in greek).

How many people do you suppose are actually aware that Joshua = Jesus? Have you ever known a non-latino who was named Jesus (not Joshua, Jesus)?
