Ah, don't go there, Rush Limbaugh. The bottom 90% pays more in taxes than they own in wealth. The income tax is purposely done as an attack on labor; capitalists make their money from investments at a much lower rate.

One of the biggest problems with the military budget comes from contractors. People who get paid multiples of what they used to make in the military for doing the same damn job, or even worse are the ones such as the cooks in KBR that get paid $60-70k/yr.

Hate to break it to you but the government spends more than 70k per year on the individual servicemember in direct and indirect costs in most cases. And that isn't one of the "biggest problems", there are so many bigger problems I could list right now if it weren't for it being near midnight.

While there's some truth in this, it's not ALL up to the individual. Think if you were born into poverty and your live revolved around you unable to even go to college (like this guy mentions as if it's a given) and work whatever job you can get just to put your earnings back into your family. The truth is that Capitalism creates a divide, and if the poor are doing the dirty work, the rich can spend a little more on them to help the gap. You don't see ignoring the poor as a problem until it's in your face, you can't ignore it, it's part of the society we live in.

You know what i understand that and I'm by no means against all forms of welfare and such but our current system is just ridiculous. There's people that go cash a social security check and go buy drugs. There's people that just live off of unemployment. That's not right. It's supposed to be help not a free ride.

Then look at Obama's plan. Windfall taxes on oil companies to give American's a thousand dollars. Give me a break. That's redistribution of wealth plain and simple. It's a load of shit. There's no reason to punish oil companies for doing well. Kind of a side note but all these people bitch about them having record profits yet no one seems to stop and think and equate that to record consumption. Demand has decreased quite a bit, will they have record profits for this quarter? No way.

You're missing something though. Cheney made a good point about Contractors, especially private military firms like Blackwater and Executive Outcomes. We pay them for a service. One time deal. If their employees get wounded or killed we as a government pay nothing. We have no liability or obligation to these contractors.

That is a BIG ASS cost saving.
