Not everyone would like to be treated the same you would.
l
-People who are allergic to your favorite food
-Masochists
-People with different preferences overall
-If you're someone who's suicidal

Discuss.

I've thought about the suicidal one before.

But since suicide is a sin it kind of means you don't count, maybe? I don't know for sure.

I don't think that the golden rule is meant to be a universal rule capable of dictating every person's behavior in every situation as it is a general guideline that you should use with discretion depending on the circumstances. A revision for special circumstances might be, "Treat others the way you imagine they'd like to be treated."

Sure, but it's still a good general rule, at least with strangers.  By the time you know a person, you know when it applies and when not.
