Woman aren't allowed in the special forces (combat/infantry).  But why is it taking him so long for basic training?  it should only be 9 weeks and he can come home for Exodus (christmas) if he wants to for a week before returning.  Ill be done with basic  before he ever returns!....

Well, I don't think he really knew about any of this stuff when he left, we didn't have much time to discuss what would go on.

I would expect he would come home for Christmas, too, but he said that... wait... OH!
He did mention it, kind of... he had left me a voice message saying that I had to "last 5 months without him" and I was like "Uh... August - April = 9 months..."

So maybe he will be back in December.
That'd be awesome...

Women still aren't allowed to fight.
Women can do technological work, etc.  But we can't stand in the front lines with guns and fight.

that's because women aren't meant to be on the battlefield, periods and moodswings etc. makes them too unstable and fragile.

It all depends on what MOS you are. I was infantry. We were treated like shit all the time, went out in the field when we were not suppose to be. They don't care about you, really. Also, I live in Korean war era barrack. Trust me, it isn't what the recruiters tell you. Also, I heard stories from veterans of Afghanistan and they said they accidentally bomb a whole village then they blamed it on the terrorist. I am sorry but that right there is against what I believe. I don't believe in killing women and children. I also heard they ran over this girl with a humvee. I didn't want to deal with that so I got out. So do whatever you want. I am just saying it wasn't for me.
