Ok, here's the deal:
I bought a new Lexmark printer/scanner/copier (X2600) yesterday.
My DVD/CD-rom drive isn't working, so I downloaded the software off the internet.
I got the software downloaded at abuot 2:30 this morning, decided to wait til today to install it.
I hit the "install" button and it says I don't meet system requirements. I have enough space, but it says I have 445 MB but need 512 MB.
I called a few people, and they said I should HAVE 512 MB.
Someone want to help me make my computer realize I have 512 MB?

And I'd show you a screenshot of the install screen, but I do't know where the damned screenshots go after I take the pic.

Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Do you mean 512MB RAM?

The most likely reason for this is because your computer is old and doesn't have it's own graphics card. Instead it 'borrows' RAM to be used for video or graphical purposes, this is called Shared RAM and is quite common practice for some low end computers even today.

If you don't meet the requirements I guess you'll have to buy more RAM for your computer to fix it.

What operating system are you running? Have you check the setting on the computer, right click my computer and select properties (if you are running windows) and it should tell you how much RAM you have.

Goddamnit...
I have a Dell with Windows Vista.
And it says I only have 446 MB >.<
Anyone know how much it might cost me to get enough RAM?

((And btw, I appreciate the help!))

Is it a laptop or desktop? Also running Vista on less than 512 MB must take forever to start up.

What os are you running? If it's windows xp or vista, it can usually install your printer for you. I think the 512mb refers to your system memory, not your actual free space.

& after you take a screenshot you have to paste it into paint & then save it

For the screenshot... open a photo editor and click 'edit' and then 'paste' after you hit the 'print screen' button.
