So do you need a degree to be a police officer? Is there no way I can get into law enforcement without first obtaining a degree? I should have my associates this year but the problem is my major was business. Any know anything about this?

Ok so you think just an associates degree would be fine. Or even my bachelors degree in business?

It varies from department to department.  You'll need to check with the department you're interested in.

For example, the local department here requires 1 of three things - a 2 year degree, long term previous job experience in a somewhat related field, or military service.

for just a basic city/state police officer it varies department to department.

most fed law enforcement positions require a bachelors and work experience.

Different departments/academies have different requirements, but as a whole I think that if you get the right requirements in and get through the academy, you could do it with a business degree.

rigid training?? That's funny. Haha no you don't need a degree. It depends on where you live. I have several college credits I'm criminal justice, criminology, intro to profiling, dual credit psychology, and sociology. It helps

You do not need a degree in most of the departments that I am familiar with, including my municipal agency and the Florida Highway Patrol.
