Indie can't be the future of music by definition. If it becomes popular, it isn't technically indie anymore, thus being replaced by another act that will then be called indie. and Indie shouldn't be a genre, there is a more specific genre title for almost every band that calls themselves indie.
indie=independent record label, not unpopular and again, i meant ALTERNATIVE
I think we should all just come to an agreement that "Indie" and "Alternative" are both shitty, non-descriptive labels for music.

Being a metal fan, I hate to say it, but I fear for this. I don't really want to hear the metal scene be infested with music industry garbage.
It's nice that it's getting MUCH MORE popular these days, but still. Another thing I'm worried about is it flaring up too quickly and dying out...>_>
I would like it if everyone liked metal, but I agree, it probably would become infested with shite from wannabes
