Sorry you are all mad at me. I actually AM aware I have a problem. Thankyouverymuch. I just don't want to notice. I just gave my mom one of my blades and she just told me it wasn't clean. She said we still need to talk. I'm obviously going to be okay and chances are, unless you are calling me a cunt, those of you are giving me advice I already know. Thanks for you support anyway.

bad luck your parents finding out. if it means you get some help then that's something, but i felt pretty much the same when my parents found out (and my mum reacted in pretty much the same way as yours) so maybe that's not much of a consolation.

i don't think you did wrong to only give your mum the one blade. losing your usual tools can make things worse if you don't have them on hand next time you want them, since no one can 'just stop'.

i don't know what your reasons are for cutting but i expect the last poster's accusation of attention-seeking is probably misguided, as is the person who said you had mental problems. so you know, a therapist is unlikely to be that judgemental, often they're reluctant to give any kind of 'label' and when they do it's usually depression, which though it's not something most people feel comfortable shouting about, is more common than say schizophrenia or a personality disorder, and so not as scarey for other people.

do give therapy a try, give it a chance, but if you don't get on with the person, find someone you do - you're not doing something wrong or beyond help if things don't work out with a particular type of therapy or a particular therapist.

your parents initial reaction will die down after a while, and you won't be kept at this level of stress about it for long. right now they're panicking but at some point you'll have to make most of the effort in your recovery. if you don't think you'll be able to go it alone, it would be a good idea to make the most of help you're offered now, and to talk about any ambivalent feelings you have about recovery, so that those who need to know, know where you stand on this.

That was the main thing I wanted to say, but in addition to that, if you acknowledged in your later post that you have a problem and you gave your mother one blade of three, have you thought about willingly giving her them all? It could help you if you know this isn't right.

Lastly, I'm very glad for you that you have such a supporting and understanding mother - the way she reacted says tonnes about her level of care for you. Keep that close.

It sounds like you dealt with the stress and fear well anyway if you gave up a blade; still, maybe try consider professional help if your parents want it for you too. I'm also sorry that some of the replies here were so appalling.
