Do bangs and glasses work together?

I have a long face, and I've been trying everything to make it look shorter. I've got thick rimmed glasses, as, according to Cosmopolitan and the Specsavers magazine, these make the face appear shorter.

I've also read that thick bangs make the face appear shorter, but will these work with glasses?

This is the type of bangs I had in mind:

1.  

Ones that I'd be able to sweep to the side when I felt like it.
