I am Black, and because I used the heat too much, my hair started breaking off in the back, so I look like I have an emo haircut (you know the ones that are really long in the back, but short everywhere else).

My stupid ass father is trying to force me to get braids. YES, I am aware that getting braids is the equivalent of not doing anything to your hair for while, letting it rest, etc.

But I don't want braids, and I will never get them.

But then, he goes so far to say that my hair will never grow back unless I get braids.

Which is a fuckin lie. I only put heat on my hair every three weeks, I moisturize my hair every other day, use conditioning, keep my scalp from getting dry.

God, my parents are idiots. There is always more than one way to do something.

Holy crap.  Your hair broke off because you applied heat to it?  Is this a black hair thing? (sorry if it's not and I offend, I've never heard of hair breaking off like that)

My hair isn't GONE, but there is one spot where it's like 5 inches, and the rest of my hair is fifteen inches.

And because I used heat everyday, sometimes twice a day. It was too much.

Cos of the way the cortex and cuticle is formed it can be damaged really easily. And yeah its "a black hair thing" lol.

Um, maybe you could get some repairing stuff?
I've got this really good label.m stuff that repairs it, try finding some of that.
