last year i kept trying to fill out fafsa and cal grants and everything, but my parents were all like, o no, we're too rich for that, don't do that or apply for scholarships. now, a month before college starts, they're saying like, y don't u just go to a community college, we're too poor for u to go to a public school. We can't find the loans. so i went a found a place they could get the loans anyway. i hate them, and the money thing is just a lie, my dad's a freakin partner in business. my teacher at school, a single mom of three on a teacher's salary sent all three of her sons to private schools. They won't let me drive either. they're just crippling me, i hate them.

Lawl.. Maybe they have another reason for not letting you go.

I, for one, know full well we could afford to pay for me to go to Harvard (provided I can get the scores :frustrated:). Parentals won't allow it. Why? They don't want me to move out

Parents can get a bit touchy about anyone having any idea how much they've got in the bank, so that might be it. I'd guess that it's true that they're not particularly rich: they won't be too ready to tell you of any debts they have either, regardless of what their income is.

But they'd love to have the status implied by you not needing to request loans, grants etc., so they asked you not to do that. Annoying, impractical, but I guess for the time being, what they want, they get.

And yes, they can get very annoying. My mum calls herself a 'very private person' and yet, when I still lived at home, she kept on 'accidentally' opening my wage slip envelopes.
