Is it better to ask someone on a first date with you while you are already in a conversation with them? Or is it better to walk up to them and ask them straight up? Oh also, whats a better way to ask someone? pick one of the two below...

1) "Do you want to go get ice cream with me on friday?"

2) Hey, I'm going to get ice cream on Friday; do you want to go with me?"

As you can tell im really nervous about this whole thing haha.

I'd say getting an ice-cream is too small of a deal for it to seem like a date to her, so while it's a good start because she'll feel it's more friendly and be more likely to say yes just be weary she may not classify it as a date.

And integrating the question into the general conversation is a good idea, it'd be good if you could even somehow get onto a topic about ice creams first (don't ask me how lol, that's up to your improvisation during the conversation) and then just ask her to have an ice cream with you that very second even, or after school or whatever.
