Monday I have an interview at Kohls, I was told it'd be a group interview and googling around told me that all Kohls interviews are hosted this way.

I don't really know what to do or say though, this is my first proper job interview and it's crucial that I nail it and get the job.

Any tips? Please!

I would say that just relax. Maybe come up with some questions you would think they'd ask you and the answers to those questions. Do you know anyone who's done an interview at Kohl's before? If so, you could definitely ask them for some help. Just go out there and be confident! I know you can do it!

Be honest and no matter what job you try and get they will always ask you how you think you will benefit to the company and why they should hire you

I went through the group interview process with Kohl's and it sucked. There was 12 people in my group and they ask a range of questions, to three people at a time. For example, they would ask "What is your idea of Customer Service" and they would ask that to persons #1, #2 & #3. Then they would ask, "Give me an example of how you exceeded Customer Service" and would ask that of persons #4, #5 & #6 and so on. And they would ask each question only once meaning persons 4 - 6 wouldn't be able to give an answer of the first question that was asked of persons 1 - 3. I don't like this format because: 1) If you're person number 3, then you have two people that answered before you and you have to make your answer sound different from theirs; and 2) Since it's not a one-on-one interview, the interviewer doesn't really get a good idea of what kind of candidate you are for the job.

After this group interview process (which I felt uncomfortable with) they called me back in to fill out some "pre-employment" paperwork, which I did. I filled it out and was looking forward to working with them, but then I never heard from them again. I called them as a follow-up and even though I made it through the interview and filled out the paperwork, all they said was that they "changed their minds".

Well they're job fair is from Sunday-Thursday, so maybe I'll get lucky and have a smaller group.

I had the interview today.
They have around 1,000 people to interview during their job fair, so my chances aren't very likely, especially with me still being in high school.

There was probably 20 of us in the group, they kept 4 or 5 of us behind for additional paperwork, so I guess that means I made it to the next round.

I was nervous, very nervous, but I did okay. :)

Best Buy does group interviews.  I like them, it lets you know what you are up against.  Humor them, but let them know you are serious.  They'll remember you better that way.

I had an interview yesterday. In a room of 12 we were all asked the same questions. Be prepared to answer situational questions (what would you do if: you saw a co-worker stealing, if you had an angry customer, if you had to assist more than one person at a time -what woud you do or what did you do in that situation). Also be prepared to answer the following: What are the responsibilities for someone in this business? What qualities do you have that will benefiet us? Describe a time where you gave or received excellent customer service. Describe a time where you exceeded customer service or your job responsibilities. They are trying to asses wether or not you posess their core values so check out their web site.

i know this is an ancient post (2008)
I just recently applied to Kohls (1/2009) and was wondering
if they do urine tests? How long after the interview do they allow for "tests" to be taken?  I am a college student and busy with studying.

I've never done group interviews before...but it looks pretty easy...just give the best answer you can!
