What is different about a 2.2 compared to a 3.9? Obviously one is bigger but if one fast? More power?

I'm pretty sure a bigger engine means more power, but also less gas milage. I'm not an expert, though, so don't take my word for it.

3.9 will most likely have more power. Can't really say anything else since you didn't say what type of engines they are or what cars you are looking at.

Not all engines are the same so this is a very very VERY broad question.

Like a 2.2L Turbo Diesel will get more mpg  and have more power then a 3.9L gas motor.

torque is a power rating, its what actually moves the vehicle.
