Because they often lack father figures at home, leading them to look to older men. They're often shy and want to impress their friends by landing an older guy. And little girls are desperate to grow up and think that they'll be "adults by association" if they date someone older.

Girls will find older guys more attractive.  They can take them to fancy restaurants, spend more money on them, drive a cooler car, buy them more expensive gifts, etc.
