The Lost Gospels

These are gospels that are not included in the Bible along with the other ones (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, correct me if I'm wrong here).

"Gospel" simply means that it somehow recounts the teachings and life of Jesus.

The Lost Gospels include:
-Gospel of Thomas
-Gospel of Judas
-Gospel of Phillip
-Gospel of Truth
-Gospel of Mary

etc. etc.

A lot of churches (and by that, I mean denominations, various ones within the Christian religion) do not acknowledge their authenticity or believe that they add anything sufficient to the Christian religion because they were not included originally in the bible.

"Among the later apocryphal gospels, the Gospel of Mary and the Gospel of Judas are probably the best known. The Gospel of Mary is an account of some revelations to Mary Magdalene, but most scholars doubt that she was the real author. Similarly, the Gospel of Judas probably wasn't written by Judas iscariot, but by someone else who used his name. In ancient times unknown authors would often ascribe their books to famous people in an effort to get additional publicity and greater authority for them."

So, the questions I pose to you are these.

-Are these gospels any less "true" because they were not originally in the Bible for whatever reason?
-Based on the quotation above "In ancient times unknown authors would often ascribe their books to famous people in an effort to get additional publicity", then could it be assumed that NONE of the gospels are true, but simply stories?

-Do you believe that the Bible we have today is the full, complete, and genuine Bible?

The Gospels of the New Testament were chosen based largely on popularity, it's really impossible to tell which are true.

If they made it to the bible, the known gospels must have some authenticity of the author and content.

these gospels are known as the agnostic gospels and aren't included in the bible as they are viewed as heretical.

I find them very interesting and I think they could be seen as just as true as the books included in the bible

And no I think the books in the bible such as mark and luke probably where written by the named people.

The Bible is inspired by God. The other gospels might be true. But God didn't want it in the Bible, possibly because we don't need it.

Point that many of these so-called "lost" gospels were written several centuries following the death of Christ, whereas the canonically accepted gospels were written within a century of His death (and resurrection). Bit of a difference there.

You believe that the Lost Gospels aren't in the Bible because God didn't want them there?
