So I'm reading some Catholic beliefs and.... wtf? They confess to a priest in a box. They pray to Mary and Joseph and zillions of other people. They have statues. Jesus is the only child to them, supposedly. Mary's a virgin. They cross themselves. I DON'T UNDERSTAND. They're strange Christians that's for sure. Can any Catholics explain these things to me and why they interpret all that stuff from the Bible? Thanks Oh and this is anonymous 'cause I don't want to sound like a jackass dissing on Catholics. I just want to know.

ok here we go....catolics do not worship mary
they olny pray to her becaue she is marys mother...
I am baptist i do not believe to pray to mary.
God gave mary the baby so he could live a human life and die on the cross for us.
YOu should olny confess things to the one and olny all powerful god

I refuse to believe that Mary was a virgin. I mean..it's the perfect excuse.. no one had done the "immaculate conception" thing before.. And her and Joseph were married, yeah? did they not sex it up? Ever? and...by the way..wouldn't he be really pissed off if she was knocked up and Not by him? It just doesnt quite all fit..

oh wait you forgot the best part... theyre not allowed to read their own holy word.. lol why do i need some OLD fart to tell me what "God" has allready had written down for man to interperet(sp)? i can read just as well as the next person if not better

well im not exactly catholic but went to a catholic school and studied catholicism:
- confession is good cuz it can allow you to let out what your really feeling anonymously instead of bottling it up and sacrementally it is a forgiveness and confession of your sins to god
- the saints are those who have followed JEsus and are blessed by god, they pray to them so they can give them strength to follow in their footsteps (someone like Mother Teresa who will probably be given sainthood)
- Statues is just to show their love lol i dunno actually about that
- Jesus is the only child of God yes?
- In the bible it says mary was inpregnated by the holy spirit, this is no different in any other sect of christianity
- Crossing themselves is just like how you start a prayer, its just a tradition
