I didn't ask what to do, I asked if it's fair or not, of course it'd be easier to have one's own car but that's not the easiest thing to acquire.  
True. It is fair though if you are under 18. Regardless of who pays for insurance, they still have financial liability. Now, if it was your car, and you payed for everything, it would be a little out of place for them to restrict you on it.

It's fair. They bought it and it's in their name. Driving your parents' car is a privilege not a right. It's theirs to offer.

that's fair.. thats more than fair, it's their car, they probably pay gas, they pay their own insurance, and your probably paying insurance as a 'temp driver' or what not..
