ASSOCIATED PRESS "LYNWOOD, Ill. - Be careful if you have saggy pants in the south Chicago suburb of Lynwood. Village leaders have passed an ordinance that would levy $25 fines against anyone showing three inches or more of their underwear in public. Eugene Williams is the mayor of Lynwood. He says young men walk around town half-dressed, keeping major retailers and economic development away. He calls the new law a hot topic. The American Civil Liberties Union says the ordinance targets young men of color. Young adults in the village, like 21-year-old Joe Klomes, say the new law infringes on their personal style. He says leaders should instead spend money on making the area look nicer." My Take? This is complete bull, why does one group of people have to impose a law because another group of people doesn't like how they dress? This is going to have unforseen consequences is the sense that, people are going to start asking about why they cant wear pants that show three inches of underwear in fear that they might offend someone, but a hooker who is working can wear a skirt that almost shows off their crotch and a nearly transparent top and have no consequences! Think about it this way, who would you rather have sitting at your dinner table with your family? Someone who wears baggy pants? Or someone who can't even sit down because all her "stuff" will show? Now i'm not saying you should be fined instead if you wear micro skirts, in fact im saying quite the opposite. I'm saying, freedom of expression is why people believe America is so great, but now i challenge you to think "what the hell" when LAWS ARE PASSED ON WHAT WE CAN'T WEAR come up. By the way, no i do not wear baggy pants, i never have and never will because i don't personally don't like the look of it, but who the hell am i to tell my neighbor what he can't wear? ...whats next? A fine if your colors don't match?...

It would shut them up... Well aside from their laughter of thousands of blacks being fined or imprisoned should things turn violent.

We wouldn't have this problem if boxers were not so pretty these days.
I remember when long hair was enough to get you scooped up by the police. I've heard stories about the duck-tail haircut being once legally discouraged in the 1950s.
These culture-wars incidents are always a laughable attempt to control the behavior of particular groups of young men by regulating their appearance. It's always a stupid idea. Laugh.
Go ACLU.
