So the court case was on Monday. It's all happening so fast!  
We found out something about the mother we didn't know before. They found a shoebox of Ecstasy under her bed.
It was very scary in the court room. I had to get up and read a statement. I told them about the bruises and scars and scared attitude Jon had. About the pathetic excuses his mother made him say.
About the beating I suspected he received after 'tattling'. About when his mother, so many times, came in drunk when picking him up. If she ever did.

His mother was found guilty of multiple child abuse scenarios, GBH, and drug possession.  
The judge said it was 'one more stain upon the fabric of youth' and that 'the mother here is disgraceful - if I can call you a mother. You are meant to be the one person this young man can rely on, and yet you continue to ruin his life. It's a disgusting abuse of power. I hope I never see you again.'
They haven't decided on the sentence yet.  

Jon is going to move in with his father in Cardiff ASAP, and I really wish him the best.

I think this experience may stick with me...

I'm really glad you've connected with this poor kid. You should've seen him in the court. He looked so terrified of saying anything. You can tell how much this has affected him.
Of course, that 'mother' of his showed no hint of remorse. She couldn't own up for one second. Kept blaming it on him, and the drink and drugs.
I believe her excuse for the burn on his leg was "He makes me so angry. He wouldn't shut up when my friends were round. It's the only way to get through.'

I hope she rots in hell. I see so many little faces pass through the gates everyday, and it makes me sick to think anyone could lay a finger on something so innocent.
