I'm looking for an idea for a biology investigation we have to do, and we can basically do whatever we want as long as it relates to homeostasis. And we have to conduct the experiment on either ourselves or some other 'volunteers'.

They gave us a list of topics to chose from, out of those i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for experiments on one of these 4 topics (or anything else that relates to the topic):

-Maintenance of body temperature
-Respiration Rates
-Lung Capacity
-Heart rate studies

We have about 8 weeks to do this in but we need to hand in a short summary of what we plan to do by friday, so any ideas would be great.

lung capacity would be the easiest in my opinion and it could be fun

you could test a smoker, a child, an athelete and such

do you have to do it on people?? thats strange all mine have been on plants, its much easier to monitor...
well i think lung capacity would be the easiest... maybe comparing smokers and non smokers, or people who excerise alot compared to people who dont... breathing into a paper bag and measuring the volume or something.. sorry thats the best i can think of, i have never done an experiment with people

We did plants last year, so this year they changed it so we have to do it on people.

thats weird bceause there are so many more variables to take into consideration with people, we do it with plants because we can be sure they are genetically identical so if you control all the other variables you know that the experiment is valid.
