The finished product: Queen Elizabeth I of England and King Philip II of Spain are known as bitter rivals. However, at one time King Philip was married to Elizabeth's sister, Mary. At one time, Philip even proposed to Elizabeth. Though they were rivals, inevitably they shared some similarities. For instance, both were monarchs with lots of power. Elizabeth and Philip alike desired to expand their respective country's power. Both were very proud of their naval armies. Philip's Spanish Armada was said to be invincible. Queen Elizabeth defeated Philip's armada to secure England's spot as the greatest sea power in the world. Both ruled England at one time. Some people may not realize that Philip was the king consort of England when he was married to Mary. Both were religious. However, there were probably more differences than shared traits. Elizabeth supported the Protestant Church of England while Philip was a Roman Catholic. Another difference is the fact that Philip married four times while Elizabeth never married, using the possibility of marriage to get what she wanted from men. Philip is described as being stubborn and headstrong, while Elizabeth sometimes gave in to her counselors. For example, she had Mary Queen of Scots kidnapped and executed after counselor's urgings. Philip lived to be seventy-one years old while Elizabeth lived to be seventy. Yes, it's nothing special but it will do. Points have been sent out.

They both fucked over Queen Mary?
King Philip II was married to Elizabeth's sister Mary of England. Then when she died he proposed to Elizabeth I. Elizabeth later kidnapped and executed Mary Queen of Scots though.
