I'm not overreacting. Like I said, it's the equivalent of trailing off in speech, in real life. Everyone knows that.
With that being said, would you not assume that something was up if you yelled "Hey!" to someone, and they went "Hey..."

no in real life there are lots of other things we use to indicate speech and emotion. Typing lacks those. The elipses has been taken over for something else.

Texting is stupid. And so is calling your friends on a cell phone to talk about stupid shit. Waste of money. If I'm not home, then I can't talk. Cell phones = useless unless you're traveling far/for emergencies.
