How is THREE periods easier than pressing one? 
it is just quicker, and indicated a topic switch, i think you need to chill out, there is no hidden message behind the elipses.

I'm not overreacting. Like I said, it's the equivalent of trailing off in speech, in real life. Everyone knows that. With that being said, would you not assume that something was up if you yelled "Hey!" to someone, and they went "Hey..."

no in real life there are lots of other things we use to indicate speech and emotion. Typing lacks those. The elipses has been taken over for something else. Get over it.
