Should I get them now, before classes start, so I can get a head start or wait around to get them?

The prices are insane too. Can anyone some reliable places to get textbooks online? My friend was telling me ebay but I'm sure there are other options out there.

If you buy them used, I wouldn't think the prices would be that steep.

i never get them before classes start, because usually it ends up that there are some books you don't really need or i end up switching around my classes during drop/add if i dont like some

Would you recommend buying the study guides for textbooks?

Amazon, most def.

If I would've bought two of my books USED at school, it would've been $300. Got them for $140-ish total on Amazon!

I would only recommend study guides for science courses (that you aren't too familiar with)...and MAYBE math courses.

Get them, when the bookstores start to sell them. But don't go opening them/writing in them until your classes/profesors confirm the need of them. That way, you can still return them, and get full refund, at the school/campus bookstore.

Not in my case. They never helped.
