NY is denser, so you'll pay more for less. LA is spaced out but you'll need a car. NY is the main city of the US and LA is the main city of entertainment. There's a lot of pros and cons to each.

if only la was still in the rap game but their 15 minutes of fame has been over since tupac died. maybe reggaeton now vato. nyc's still got ja rule (murder inc), jim jones of dipset, 50 cent of g-unit, fat joe, hell rell of dipset, juelz santana of dipset, nas (hip hop is dead), jay-z (roc boys), cam'ron of dipset, busta rhymes, etc. we also got hot girl rappers and r&b singers like alicia keys and remy ma.

la is not the main city of entertainment, it's the main city of movies. nyc is the main city of music and shows. nyc's home to mtv and bet and 7/8 of the biggest record companies. we got nbc, fox, abc, comedy central, etc. king of queens, seinfeld, sex in the city, friends, house (set outside the city), etc. nyc aint the main city of the us... it's the main city of the world. center of the fuckin universe... deal with it.
