I doubt you'd be able to cut a urumi with a regular sword. The blades are made of steel. It's strong, just flexible.

It's flexibility could possibly even keep it from being broken or cut.

You're likely right about it being hard to break, flexibility does help. I thought I knew a bit about weapons but I never heard of the Urumi before. I wonder when it was first made.
