Alright, I'm out of milk and I want to make mac n cheeze. is it okay, if i i use buttermilk, for some reason that's the only product with the word milk in it in our fridge.

I make it with water sometimes, it still works.. just not as good. Use extra butter.

Make it with water. Buttermilk won't really work for this. It's not quite the same.

Buttermilk is essentially milk that's gone sour under controlled conditions. It's good for batters and dough, but not sauces.
