What areas of the ASVAB are you scared of? Were you competent throughout highschool? If so, the ASVAB won't be so difficult for you that you won't get a good enough score to at least join the Army, you may not score high enough to get a given profession within the Army, though.

Don't let recruiters rush you into taking the ASVAB if you don't feel that you're ready to take it, because they are likely to try. It's in your best interests to get the job that you want within the Army, if you don't get it, I don't recommend even joining. You have nothing to lose by trying though, study up on the ASVAB if you have to, take it, and then based on what you score, decide where you want to go from there. Don't let the recruiters make you feel obliged to do anything because until you've signed your contract, you're not bound to anything and it's your life, not theirs.

You have nothing to lose, it's not even close to the end of the world if you don't get in, believe me.

You want my honest advice?

If you want to join the army, join the British Army. They're having desperate trouble recruiting at the moment, in fact they are now looking at recruiting from Jamaica!

At the end of the day British troops are trained better and for longer than American troops so you've a better chance of survival, you'll mainly go to Afghanistan, and the British army isn't as hated amongst the middle eastern population as the US army is.

Aim high and get into the Blues and Royal or one of the Parachute Regiments and maybe you'll get into the SAS, which isn't as hard as it sounds, the best regiment ion the world.

Just my 2 cents.
