" If the Bible is wrong when it tells us it is infallible, then it contradicts itself. If it contradicts itself, then it is unreliable. If it is unreliable, then our faith is totally shattered and Christianity is a lie. "

If anything is wrong or falsified according to what we know about the world, then the basis of Christianity, that which stems from knowledge of the Bible is inherently flawed.

Discuss.

The Bible is a book to be questioned just like every other book, and it must be treated like any other book. Christianity is a lie

If people choose to believe in the Bible then hey, more power to ya. I for one don't subscribe to the Christ club.

the bible is meant to not be taken literally but inerpretated in my opinion. not everything in th ebible is scientifically accurate no but is meant to help us shape our morals. No matter what you say you cant say the bible gives us bad ideals because our most basic rights, freedoms and laws come from this book that outdates any other written laws or rights.

We're not debating ideals, rights, etc.

We're debating the legitimacy of the Bible. It is not real. And you've said it is not scientifically accurate when it undoubtedly claims to be.

Therefore, Christianity is crap. I have sex before marriage. I can steal all I want without repercussion. And I can choose whatever morals, rights, ideals, etc I want from any source I want because that source is just as legitimate as the Bible.

Truth is different to fact.

The bible is not fact, obviously. Most christians will also admit that there are 'flaws' however big or small.

But the bible, for many people, is truth. What they belive, and choose to belive. Just like other non-christians gets to belive in other religions/theorys/etc.

If that book is going to give people clarity in there lifes and strength when they need it, why is it a bad thing?

please reply.

There is only one truth. There are no different truths to logical answers.

2 + 2 = 4, not 8. You belief in this situation makes no difference. The answer will never be 8.

Mental fortitude is fine. It is just the baggage that accompanies religion that irks. If people just read their fairy tale books in peace, there would be no problem. If people would stop trying to stop abortion and anything that isn't acceptable in that fairy book, then there would be no problem. Stick to your book. Read your story. Don't try to use your book as proof for anything pertaining to society.

Practise what you preach?

Why do you feel the need to post your view on here then? Your reasoning that Christianity is false is your 'own book'. If your allowed to post your view, why aren't Christians allowed to post theirs?

There is not only one truth. This world is made up of many different perceptions, and humans cannot possibly understand all of them. You see one truth, i see another. Truth is different for everyone.

What you have also not taken into account is that the bible was written 2000 years ago by people that had seen/heard of Jesus. Not by Jesus or god. Therefore there is obviously going to be flaws, as people do not remember accurately or well.

People wrote the bible because they thought what Jesus had done was so amazing, and it was. 2000 years later millions of people still believe in it.

PS. just so you know, I'm not a Christian.

Firstly, "unreliable" is a relative term. Even if the Bible is not absolute truth from cover to cover, that does not mean every word is false.

Secondly, Christianity is not a monolith, and most of the scientific inaccuracies I have seen cited rely on a literal interpretation. It's hard to comment further when you have included no examples of your own.
