Hey all. I just had a question for all you skaters out there because I figure you guys would know the answer to this.
I basically want to get a longboard, but I would rather have a regular skateboard deck instead of the big ass longboard thing.
Anyway, in order for the skateboard to roll all fast, smooth, and for a long time, does it matter what trucks you get, or is it just in the wheels and the berrings?
My friend has a skateboard and it rolls like a longboard, it is nice, and it made me really want one. Any help?
I wanted to get the dyrdek trucks and i was hoping just the longboard wheels and berrings would fit on there so it would roll a really long time and really fast. thanks.

Bearings are the most important for speed. Smoothness comes with a good combination of trucks wheels and bearings.

just get a zero/planb/element(though elements chip real easily) deck
destucto trucks
reds bearing
and decent hardwear
that sounds like a pretty nice beginner board don't you all agree?
and any wheels that you get at a skate shop***

i have a longboard and a regular element board. i prefer the longboard. i don't get the point in you getting a regular board to use like a longboard?

its in the wheels, type of ball bearing and size of risers. you want soft large wheels, a nice sized soft ball bearing in your trucks and tall risers, usially doubling up on normal risers or getting oldskool ones works best.
im from NJ too. i usto work at solid foundation skatepark if youv ever heard of it.

to me it's less fun if you can't walk your board and stuff, but anyway what everyone else said is right. worry about bearings, wheels and risers. trucks...not so much in my opinion.

i agree. its more comfortable and not so heavy feeling. i do slalom with a regular deck.
