That was actually funny! But not all Christians are THAT unreasonable.

If they don't believe what's in the Bible then they aren't really Christians at all.

Lol, I love it when nonbelievers tell believers that they aren't believing right. (Assuming you are an atheist, apologies if you aren't).

By your logic I'm not allowed to tell my cab driver he's taking me in the wrong direction because I'm not a cab driver.

If you don't know your way around that city, yeah, exactly.

What?
If you found yourself in a cab in, say, Los Angeles, and having no knowledge of the city, yet still trying to tell the cab driver he was going the wrong way would be a little stupid, wouldn't it?

I don't think you follow what I'm saying.

Claiming that "non-believers" can't criticize Christians or Christianity because they aren't Christians makes the assumption that, unless you ~are~ one, you cannot know anything about it.

An atheist should be able to notice when someone is doing something unChristian just as I could wake up the guy flying my plane and say, "hey, I'm no pilot or anything, but shouldn't you be awake for this?" Just because I'm an atheist doesn't mean I don't know when someone's screwing up Christianity really bad.

The comment you responded to with your analogy was one concerning 'belief' not 'actions'. If I say I'm a Christian because I believe Jesus is the Son of God but I don't necessarily believe everything in the Bible, are you qualified to tell me I'm not a Christian?

Believing that you are something is not analogous to actually being that thing. Practitioners of Vodou in Haiti claim to be Catholic, but their practices are in direct contradiction to actual Catholicism, for example, and one would be hard-pressed to agree that belief in Vodou constitutes Catholicism. The same goes if someone believes parts of a religion that seem agreeable to what sounds "good" in that person's culture and social climate, but discards parts that go against modern societal norms.

Nice. You side-stepped the point and didn't answer my question.

You want to know if I'm "qualified?" What counts as reasonable qualifications? My entire family is Christian and I was sent to a hardcore Calvinist school for four years.

Well, are you qualified? Am I a Christian based on what I described?
