It's too late to feed a once starving child
It's too late to quench her once aching thirst
It's too late to walk her through her life
It's too late and the sad thing is she's not the first Not the first to die alone
Not the first to fall asleep and never wake
Not the first to silently lay her weary head on death
Not the first to accept an end to pain and ache
At last her pain is gone
At last in Heaven she can finally stand
At last her tears will never fall again
At last the Lord can take her by her hand
But still it hurts to think of her
But still I'm glad she's where she should be
But still I hate she lived in silent fear
But still I know her soul is free
This girl I never knew
This girl I can't say who
This girl I know once lived
This girl's life is through
But there are others just like her
But there are starving children longing to be fed
But there are few who care to feed them
But without food they'll all be dead
So all I ask is to feed a hungry child
So all I ask is to quench their aching thirst
So all I ask is to walk each one through life
So all I ask is to be each child's first
