Generally speaking, the Law as described in Deuteronomy and its friends is something that's not only legal but also spiritual. To the ancient Hebrews, people who broke these laws (whether it was something as mundane as lighting a fire on the Sabbath or something as huge as raping and killing your neighbor's daughter) weren't just causing physical or legal damage; they were disobeying God's Law, and were therefore also subject to His judgment as well as legal judgment.

Could you explain the qualifier that I bolded?

And also, what does this mean to a modern Christian? Isn't it generally taught/accepted that Christians aren't bound by the same laws as the Hebrews were, or that these laws are outright defunct post-Jesus?

That was just something I threw up there to make sure you understand that, as with anything, there isn't universal agreement. Obviously. Most people that I've encountered, however, understand the Law in this way.

As to your second question, most Christians view only the portions of the Law that were specifically related to cleanliness (e.g. mixing of fabrics, women's menstrual periods, eating of shellfish) to be what Christ made unnecessary, as those things are all considered part of a Levitical covenant with the Hebrews and, unless you are actually coming to Christianity from Judaism, you have never been under any obligation to follow them. As sexsins don't fall under that portion of the law (i.e. they aren't about cleanliness, but rather about proper behavior), most Christians consider the laws regarding sexsins to be applicable to anyone who wants to serve God.

Yep. According to the bible and majority of practicing Christians. According to me, no.

Where does the Bible say that one's sexual orientation is damning?

It's only if they respond to natural sexual urges that they'll be punished. Not actually being gay.

But I still think it is a load of bull, as that judgement is derived from a Levitican verse, and most Western Christians agree that Leviticus is a load of bull.

Actually:

1. No they don't.

2. Homosexual acts are also condemned in Romans and 1 Corinthians.

What I find interesting is that homosexual marriage isn't at all addressed. Sure, homosexual acts are, but not the actual union of two men or two women.

Id like to think not. Im sure you're a good person, and thats surely what counts most?

 though

Lev 18:22-23 "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination."

Lev 20:13 "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death."

 do seem somewhat damning.

But Christians dont seem to follow the bible anyway, so I wouldnt worry.
Be proud of who you are,
 Be who god made you?

First: Those verses only refer to homosexual actions, no sexual orientation.

Second: Let's create a hypothetical situation here, based on your guidelines. Let's say that most people shoot puppies in the head. Does that make it okay to shoot puppies in the head?

Haveing homosexual relations is by no means on par with shooting puppies in the head.

Probably never came up. In a heterocentric, patriarchal culture like ol'Israel, gay marriage, which requires an acknowledgment of some non-physical bond (one way or another), was undoubtedly much less practiced/thought of than was simple gay sex.

yes!!! Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

Rom 1:27  And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Rom 1:28  And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Rom 1:29  Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

Rom 1:30  Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

Rom 1:31  Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

Rom 1:32  Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

1. This isn't a case of "He said, she said." You made a claim; if it's honestly fact, show me the survey that showed most Western Christians saying "Leviticus is bull."

2. 1 Corinthians 6:9, Romans 1:26-27
