"One Man's Terrorist Is Another Man's Freedom Fighter"

I can't find who said that but what do you think?

The war topic got me thinking.. In my opinion War is never a good thing and I don't like how some countries try to cover up the reason for the invasion of IRAQ. Anyone with half a brain can work out its about America trying to take some control of the oil farms in the middle east.. thats simply it, 'terrorists' who attack America are simply trying to tell America to GTFO!

I just wanted to se what you guys thought about the quote I used at the start..

Discuss.

I agree. The media gives a very one sided view, just calling them terrorists. Which they are but never really reasons why they are. America just wants a base in the middle east, so they are a kind of threat to other middle eastern countries and of course the oil. I hate the damn government.

Not sure if this is true.

But I heard that the American government is being careful what images come out of the Iraq war so nothing happens like that Vietnam war.

If it was about the US controlling the oil farms we would have control over the oil farms.  We don't they are the sole discretion of the Iraqi government and we are spending far more money on things like their infrastructure than they are.

Are you unaware of the definition of a terrorist? A terrorist is someone who primarily uses terror, especially on civilians, in order to scare and pressure a group of people into giving them what they want.

AL-Qaeda and various insurgent groups in Iraq are therefore terrorists because they primarily use suicide bombings and car bombs in civilian areas in order to terrorize entire cities of people. They distribute sick, terrible propaganda such as videos of non-muslims being executed with AKs and also videos of people getting their heads sawed off with knives, in order to instill fear in people.

As for the quote, yeah i suppose the terrorists see themselves as freedom fighters but who cares? They're still just some fucking terrorists

The point of division is what constitutes terror? Not all insurgents in Iraq targeted civilians; indeed domestic uprisings took on Al Qaeda cells and American troops.

Why is it terrorism when an Iraqi insurgent blows up an American humvee, but not Operation Shock and Awe? Or the general show of American force? Are you not trying to influence their thoughts with power?

The word terrorist denotes evil, but it serves no real purpose. All sides of a military conflict use terrorism.

NO. Killing 3,000 civilians on 9/11 is not 'freedom fighting', it's just terrorism.
