I watched to see who I was speaking mroe about themselves than seeming interested in me when we had conversations and who seemed pleased when I was depressed and became a bit funny when I started to recover my self-asteem. I ditched the ones that were like the latter, moved around the year group a bit and eventually I made good friends with people who I just naturally could have a laugh with and I don't feel i have to prove anything to or have to 'maintain' our relationship because it happens anyway.
That's how I found out.

the ones who bothered to stay in touch with me after we finished school...
yeah. same. but it was who stayed in touch with me when i was kicked out. no one kept in touch except one person. and we don't keep in touch anymore..
