ok so ive known my friend for a good 2 months now and over these few months we have become very close. so last night i got a phone call from her and she was hysterical crying i couldn't even understand her. i picked her up and called up her boyfriend because she told me she wanted him there. i asked her whats wrong and her boyfriend said to her baby what happened and she was crying so much that no words were coming out of her mouth. then she said ive been physically and mentally abused by my ex for 7 months and today he took it to far. all she said was that she said no and he pressured her into doing everything and when he was about to have sex with her she managed to run. but she was so distraught that she didn't know what to do. her bf asked her why didn't you tell me and all she said was i thought you would break up with me. and her bf and her spent the night at my house sleeping together. today her bf went to her exes and they got into a huge fight and her bf put her ex in the hospital. but anyway, im really worried for my friend because she seems really hurt by this and i don't know what to do to pick her up out of it any ideas???

Hey there,

First off, he was pressuring her into something she didn't want to do. She told her ex-boyfriend no to having sex and therefore he was about to rape her and she is lucky she got away. However, this should be reported. He should not get away with what he attempted to do to your friend. And look at how she is now after what has happened. He has been abusing her mentally and physically for the past few months. This behaviour is unacceptable and nobody should have to deal with this. You and her boyfriend both know about this and she should tell an adult what has been going on also. Then, you and her boyfriend may be able to help her take it a step further by going to the police and reporting this abuse.

Secondly, you can't just forget about her ex-boyfriend being in hospital. The ex-boyfriend could easily press charges on the boyfriend for putting him into hospital and then everything will become a mess with lawyers and such getting involved. There is nothing you can do about this fight because he could very well decide to go down that path. What her boyfriend did was wrong. Violence is not the answer and never is. I know what her ex did was completely wrong but there are other ways of sorting out problems than fighting.

All you can do for your friend at the moment is too be there for her. She is very hurt and distraught over what has happened and needs people that love and care about her around. Maybe you could arrange a few movie nights in for you and her to spend together and have a good time and take her mind of everything for a while. Also, she may want to take to a trained professional about what has happened to her. You and her boyfriend won't be able to help her completely. She would have a lot of bottled up feelings and emotions. Whereas if she talks to a professional, there is hope she will be able to recover from all the abuse she has been dealing with the past few months. They would be able to help her out as best as they can.

Good Luck!
